Frequently Asked Questions
Company -
Q. Are you Australian owned?
A. Yes. We are proudly Australian owned and operated.
Q. Do you deliver?
A. Yes. We use Star Express worldwide.
Delivery is free-of-charge in Australia for most products.
Q. Do you have a Money Back Guarantee?
A. Yes. We have a 30 day money back guarantee.
Q. What about a Product Warranty?
A. We support our Domestic product with a 2 yr Parts Warranty.
Industrial and Commercial products are covered by a 1 yr Parts Warranty.
Product Selection -
Q. Will a Gate Opener work on my gate?
A. Our products are designed to fit on most types of gates
- swing in, swing out, rising hinges, sliding, farm, domestic
and industrial. Check individual motor spec sheets for specific
details.
Q. How does the Solar-powered system work?
A. The Solar Panel converts UV rays (sunlight) to electric
current which charges the main storage battery. An inbuilt
regulator prevents over-charging. A high-torque 12 volt motor
is then driven by the battery. Typically there is 5 days of
inbuilt storage to allow for bad weather conditions.
Q. How many solar panels are needed?
A. Only one. We supply a 12V 10W Solar Panel with every Solar
Kit. Where usage is greater than 10-15 cycles per day however,
we would recommend a larger solar panel and battery.
Q. How wide will a Swing Gate open?
A. Up to 135°.
Q. Do I need a Ground Stop on Double Swing Gates?
A. No, A ground stop is not required on our Limit Switch models although if the gates are over 2m per leaf we would recommend one for a firm closure. Our Current-sensing
models do require a ground stop, in both the open and closed
positions.
Q. How much side-room clearance do I need for a Swing Gate
Operator?
A. You will need a minimum of 160mm.
Q. Does the wind affect my Gate Opener?
A. Yes wind canaeffect a swing gate but not a sliding gate. Fully clad swing gates can catch the wind, so Gate Openers
must be strong enough to push through the extra resistance,
but sensitive enough to re-open if an obstacle is detected.
Q. Can I send you a photo of my gate?
A. Great idea! We can then advise you the best operator to
use for your situation.

Q. What is the range of the Handset Transmitter?
A. 30-100m depending on atmospheric conditions, environmental
factors and electrical interference.
Q. Will the Solar Panel charge in the shade?
A. No. It will actually discharge over time. Placing the solar
panel in full sun is important.
Q. Can the gate close automatically?
A. Yes. There is a time-adjustable auto close fnction built
into the circuit board
Q. Can I open my gates outward?
A. Yes, however due to the reduced leverage with the modified arm configuration the maximum motor specifications will be reduced.
Q. Can the Sliding Gate Remote Control Operator be mounted on the left
or right?
A. Yes. Simply swap the motor wires and Limit Switch inputs.
Q. How long does it take to open my gates?
A. Depending on the specific model and size and weight of you gate, between 8 – 16
seconds.
Access Options -
Q. How do visitors get in without a Handset Transmitter?
A. There are several access options available
1. A simple Push Button in a weather-proof enclosure
2. As above, but with a key switch fitted to disable entry
3. Wired or wireless Keypad (with 4 Digit Code)
4. Wired or wireless Intercoms
Q. Can I order an extra Handset Transmitter?
A. Yes, as many as you like, whenever you like.
Security & Safety -
Q. What about extra security?
A. An Electric Lock can be added to most swing gates. In addition,
we offer a range of intercom systems – from simple 2-wire
Audio to color Video units.
Q. What Safety Features are included?
A. All low voltage units have an in-built pressure sensing
Auto Reverse function (which is User-adjustable). We can also
provide:
· Flashing lights
· Warning signs
· Optic (photo-electric) Sensors
· Loop detectors
· Beepers
Q. Can I add these safety extras to Solar- powered units?
A. No. They draw too much power and will flatten the battery.
Installation -
Q. Can I install the unit?
A. Yes. Most people handy with tools would be able to install
our units. Our Gate Openers are low voltage so no Electrician
is required, saving you big dollars. Only a drill and basic
hand tools are required for the installation. Simple-to-follow
illustrated Instructions are supplied. If you can’t
work it out, call our FREE 1800 phone number for Technical
Support.
Q. Is everything included in the DIY Kit?
A. Mostly. All parts and most fixing hardware is included.
Additional 2-core 0.75mm ‘Figure 8’ wire will
be needed with some kits.
Q. How long does it take to install a gate opener?
A. Typical Installation times are -
Slider SL-600 1 - 2 hrs
Farm Gate FG-340 1 – 3 hrs
Double Gate SW-680 2 – 4 hrs
Q. Will the Swing Gate Operator work on a brick pillar?
A. Yes. The big advantage with Swing Operators is that it
is not crucial where the gate is mounted on the pillar - up
to 400mm set back is okay. Remember - Swing Arm Operators
are 10 times more efficient than any Linear (Screw Drive )
Gate Opener.
Q. Do I need to install low voltage wire in conduit?
A. No, this is not necessary – however use of conduit
is advisable where leads are under driveways or in heavy traffic
areas
Q. Can I mount the Solar Panel away from the gates?
A. Yes. It can be mounted up to 50m away, as long as it is
in complete sunlight all day away from any shading. It requires
UV light to charge battery successfully. Although the Battery
will charge on cloudy days, it will actually discharge in
shade or darkness.
Note: If you are unsure shift the panel away from gate way
or if possible go for battery charge system.
Maintenance -
Q. What about maintenance?
A. Make sure your gate is in good repair. Oil or grease hinges
regularly. Gates must swing freely. Most failures are caused
by seized hinges, flat batteries or power points being turned
off.
Q. How long will the batteries last?
A. Handsets batteries last from 12 to 18 months. The main
battery will last between 2 to 4 years.

Our technology is simple, proven, reliable anf fully supported.
